Seeking the Path to Immortality

Chen Xiaoxiao first saw the immortal from the stories when she was fifteen.

Back then, she was an ordinary mortal with mediocre talent and a body weakened by illness.

He arrived with the warm light of spring, like the opening of a legend destined to be passed down through the ages.

Later, the immortal braved the demon abyss for her, risked his life, seized an immortal bone, and changed her fate. His devotion never wavered.

And so it became a legend.

Everyone said Chen Xiaoxiao was blessed. A perfect husband like him was hard to find anywhere in heaven or on earth.

Chen Xiaoxiao thought so too.

So she followed the immortal away, married him, and became one half of a divine couple praised by all.

But she was mortal in nature. She couldn't let go of the many things of the mortal world, and she couldn't become an immortal. In the end, she fell forever into the clutches of her inner demons.

Only then did she vaguely remember.

Someone had once searched the world for renowned doctors on her behalf and prayed to every god and Buddha in the heavens, until at last the immortal took pity on her.

Once, she hadn't wanted to become an immortal or live forever. She had only wanted to spend every year with the young man she loved.

But her young man was nothing more than an utterly ordinary mortal.

How could the love of an ordinary person ever be more precious than that of an exalted immortal?
