The noble Princess Qiluo was poisoned one day and fell into the hands of a humble country bumpkin. Though the man was innocent, Princess Qiluo was so furious that she had him locked up.

When the poison flared up again, she handed him a knife and said with righteous resolve, "A true man can be killed, but never humiliated. I'd rather die than share a bed with you. Kill me."

After a moment's silence, his hand, covered in thin calluses, gently drew the knife. "All right. I'll kill the princess, then join her in death."

The blade gleamed sharply, reflected between Princess Qiluo's brows. "..."

She grabbed his hand and gave a low snort. "...You audacious commoner! How dare you murder a princess of the dynasty? Guards, lock him up and make him this princess's dog."

"..."

A dog in name, a dog for life. Later, the country bumpkin rose steadily through the ranks, gained immense power, and commanded countless iron cavalrymen. After half a lifetime away, when he finally returned... he was still her loyal dog.

The story of a proud princess who eventually eats her words and her devoted, loyal husband.
