Reborn, I Became Empress

In her previous life, Song Huaian was a notorious, powerful chancellor who held the court in his grasp. With countless lives on his conscience, he purged Mu Xiu's enemies and put him on the throne, plotting and scheming on his behalf for an entire lifetime. In return, he got three years in prison and a cup of poisoned wine, brought down by a male favorite. When he opened his eyes again, he had become a foppish young nobleman who knew nothing but affectation and womanizing. Song Huaian was tired. He thought he might as well go along with it. Given a second life, he would never again get caught up in other people's schemes. But the man on the throne was up to who knew what. He let corrupt ministers run rampant and ignored hostile foreign powers waiting to strike, even going so far as to stop attending court altogether. Song Huaian was so worried he could neither eat nor sleep. Tossing and turning, he finally couldn't hold back, rolled up his sleeves, and stepped in himself, rooting out the lawless ministers at court and quelling the foreign enemies gathering at the borders. Everyone thought he was a good-for-nothing playboy who cared only for romance and pleasure. No one expected Song Huaian to bare his claws and leave his enemies battered and bloody.
