Synopsis: [Complete. Thank you, everyone, for staying with me all the way. Kisses!]
1.
Chu Rong transmigrated into the mortal fiance of the beloved protagonist.
In the book, the original Chu Rong was ugly and had to wear a mask. He had no talent for cultivation whatsoever, and his engagement to the protagonist had been forced through by calling in a favor.
Yet the original Chu Rong was never satisfied. He used the protagonist's name to throw his weight around and profit from it, even trying to make a move on him.
This enraged the men in the cultivation world who admired the protagonist. They killed Chu Rong, leaving not even a body behind.
When Chu Rong transmigrated, the things the original had done in the protagonist's name had just been exposed, and the protagonist's bone-chilling life-bound sword was at his throat.
"In six months, the sect's protective formation will open. You may leave then."
2.
Knowing full well the gap between cultivators and mortals, Chu Rong changed his ways, behaved properly, and kept his distance from the protagonist.
"Putting on an act." The protagonist's flash of disgust did not escape the notice of the leading men, who had come to curry favor with him.
Night fell.
The men snuck into the back mountain, only to see someone in the spring pool with his clothes half off, black hair falling over his shoulders, and pale fingers holding an ugly, frightening mask.
Hearing a noise, the person in the pool turned his head slightly. His lips were a vivid red, and his beauty was like that of an immortal.
3.
Before the six months were up, the original Chu Rong's past misdeeds came to light.
The various immortal sects demanded justice from the sect, and everyone at Qingyang Heavenly Sect urged the protagonist to hand Chu Rong over to put an end to the uproar.
Chu Rong was about to step forward of his own accord.
But several of the leading men spoke first. "Let the one who did it answer for it. The innocent should not be dragged into this. Before he confesses, let all the immortal sects bear witness as we annul the marriage pact ordained by Heaven."
The various sects voiced no objections.
Yet no one saw the shadowy, smoldering gazes the men fixed on Chu Rong, their intensity enough to make one's scalp prickle.
Content warnings and guide:
Beloved by all. The protagonist is the most beautiful. All the supporting characters have one-sided feelings for him and are obsessed with him, but he only reciprocates the male lead.
Many original worldbuilding choices, and this is not a conventional cultivation story. No unsolicited writing advice, especially requests to change the text.
You don't need to tell me if you drop the story. Thank you so much for reading and for your support. Kisses!

Synopsis:
1.
Pei Runing had a nightmare.
In the dream, he had lived in comfort at the Pei family home for eighteen years before discovering he was the fake young master.
On the day the real young master was brought home, everyone told him, "You've always been the Pei family's precious child. No one will ever change how much we love you."
Pei Runing believed them and stayed with the Pei family.
But in less than three months, everything changed.
His once-loving parents glared at him. "You really don't have the Pei family's genes. You're so uncouth."
His brother, who had always given him everything he asked for, looked down at him coldly through his gold-rimmed glasses, without a trace of warmth. "Apologize, or get out of the Pei family."
His uncle, who had always doted on him, stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows of the estate and watched him stand in the rain all night without lifting a finger. He had a bodyguard deliver a single message: "Get out."
His childhood friend, who had grown up with him and always looked after him, forcefully shook off his hand and shoved him down the stairs. "Haven't you enjoyed eighteen years of wealth and comfort enough? A fake is still a fake. If you have any sense, you'll leave the Pei family on your own."
The friend who had always defended him like the apple of their eye led a group of students in cornering him at school and threatening him. "If you don't stop this, don't blame me for forgetting our old friendship."
But these were the very people who had begged him to stay in the first place.
2.
Pei Runing woke up in a fright and spent the whole day feeling uneasy.
The people around him noticed how distracted he was and did everything they could to cheer him up, pampering him even more than before.
Pei Runing gradually relaxed, comforting himself that it was only a dream and not real.
Then, one sunny afternoon, a boy identical to the real young master in his dream was brought into the Pei home. His parents smiled as they introduced them. "Ningning, this is your second older brother. Come on, call him Brother."
Pei Runing went cold, as if he'd fallen into an ice cellar.
3.
Everything from his dream came back to him with perfect clarity.
He didn't want to be thrown away by everyone like trash, as he had in the dream. He wanted none of them anymore.
So when his parents, just as they had in the dream, took his hand and told him to stay, Pei Runing slowly drew his hand back. His voice was soft but firm. "No. I'm grateful the Pei family raised me for eighteen years, but I shouldn't keep taking what was never mine. I'll pack my things and leave the Pei family right away."
Silence filled the room.
His parents' faces changed, their expressions full of panic.
His eldest brother, who had brought him home, suddenly turned icy, his expression frighteningly cold.
Uncle Pei, who had come to congratulate them, stopped in the doorway. His refined face darkened as he looked toward Pei Runing.
4.
That night.
A large hand wearing a jadeite ring took control of Pei Runing's slender waist and pinned him onto a muscular thigh.
"Ningning, tell me again. What is it you want to do?" Uncle Pei's elegant voice, smooth as a cello, sounded beside his ear. It was clearly no different from usual, yet somehow sent a shiver down his spine.
Pei Runing's eyes reddened with fear. Before he could speak, the bedroom door opened, and his tall eldest brother barged in, slowly taking off his gold-rimmed glasses.
"Ningning has gotten bold. Now he even dares to say he wants to leave."
Downstairs, his childhood friend and his friend arrived at the Pei home one after the other, their faces dark.
Content warnings and guide:

Beloved by all, one protagonist with multiple love interests
The love interests have all been with no one before and dote on the protagonist, but they're also completely, completely unhinged.
Theme: What you see isn't necessarily real.
