A band of monsters and other nonhumans lives in the western district of Zengcheng.
They've occupied the urban villages on either side of the old stone bridge in the western district for years.
These monsters blend in among humans. Some work day jobs, some do housework, and some deliver food.
Setting aside their nonhuman identities, they all thump their chests and insist the western district ought to award them a prize for friendship and peaceful coexistence with humans.
Until one day,
A new god descended to the western district.
He declared that from then on, the western district was his territory and all nonhumans would be under his jurisdiction. They could call him Lord River God.
The nonhumans, who had kept a low profile for years, promptly brought out their dusty weapons and bared their fangs, declaring that the new god wouldn't be leaving alive today.
Just after Lu Wenren turned eighteen, he took over Zengcheng's western district and became its newest River God.
All nonhumans within thirty li of the western district fell under his jurisdiction.
As a first-time god, Lu Wenren discovered that every nonhuman in his district was warm and welcoming, obedient and considerate.
The new River God was quite satisfied, believing he lived a happy, carefree life as a god every day.
It's just that…
Lately, rumors had been going around the western district that these nonhumans were all hiding evil intentions and wanted to harm him every day.
Lu Wenren: “That's just a rumor! Nonhumans, would you hurt me?”
The nonhumans shook their heads as one: “How (could) (we) (possibly) (want to) (every day)!”
PS: This story has a lot of original worldbuilding, and the pacing is a little slow.
My next story will be [The Outlaw Only Wants to Be a Tool]. Hope you'll add it to your collection!
Blurb: Song Jianyu took a tumble while preparing for the graduate school entrance exam. When he woke up, the exam was over.
From then on, he often dreamed that he had become a criminal. In the dreams, he was either committing a crime or in the middle of carrying one out. Every so often, he dreamed of a seemingly honest, harmless man who turned out to be a long-time serial killer.
Song Jianyu had one thought about these dreams: Had failing the entrance exam really damaged him so badly that he'd turned evil deep down?
Then one day, at a Shaxian Snacks shop, he saw a news report about an unidentified body-dumping case. The tools used to dump the body, the clothes on the corpse, and its personal belongings were all things Song Jianyu had encountered at close quarters in his dreams.
Song Jianyu: “Hello, 114? If you kill someone in a dream, should you call 120 emergency services to save yourself, or call 110 to report yourself?”
Six months later,
The Bishui Subdistrict Police Station in Jinjiang District had recently received multiple taunting letters from a criminal.
The letters detailed the sender's appearance, targets, methods, and escapes.
But the only name on the envelopes was a fake one: Outlaw Zhang San.
He brazenly demanded that the police solve the cases as soon as possible using the evidence he'd provided.
His attitude was downright arrogant, a blatant challenge to social order.
Based on the contents of the taunting letters, the local police station had repeatedly apprehended long-fugitive criminals, people planning acts of revenge against society that threatened public safety, the real culprits behind serial murders, and many others...
At the annual regional awards ceremony, the head of the Bishui Subdistrict Police Station told reporters that all the credit belonged to Outlaw Zhang San.

Hey, I had been buying Forty-Four at first, and I was waiting for updates when there was a pause. Then I found out that I had only updated a few chapters and it was marked as finished, so I knew something was wrong. I never had the heart to buy it all, but I did it today, and it was really a bit hasty. I really like the subject matter. I feel like I could write it longer and more completely.
What a hasty ending!??
Is this gone??? Is this gone??? Ahhhhhhhhhhhh. Wuwuwu, forget it, we are together at least. Wuwuwu, Wuwuwu.
Press the claws, we are finally together. I am so anxious.
The cover really scares me
When can we start to update stably...

In just one chapter, I was tricked again!
