Everyone Here Is My Dad

Qin Ren graduated from university straight into unemployment. He packed his bags and moved back to his hometown, a small city in the sticks.

While living off his parents and studying for civil service exams as a full-time child, Qin Ren happened to help an elderly person living alone and unexpectedly discovered a new and emerging line of work: substitute children.

Their children were far away, making a living in big cities. The elderly were left looking after empty homes, longing for their children and struggling with the inconveniences of everyday life.

He helped elderly people living alone book doctor's appointments and get medical care, accompanied grandmothers with empty nests to the fields to harvest peanuts, and took grandfathers whose children had moved away fishing and playing chess...

He became the substitute son of countless elderly people in this small city, helping them solve one everyday problem after another.

From then on, the whole tenor of Qin Ren's life changed.

Today, Grandma Zhang would stuff a basket of peanuts into his hands. Tomorrow, Grandpa Li would drag him out for a couple of shots of baijiu. The day after, Auntie Chen would smile and try to set him up on a date.

"Xiao Ren, these peanuts will help you grow taller. Eat some more."

"Xiao Ren, come have another couple of drinks with me today. Just two!"

"Xiao Ren, I showed your photo to my granddaughter, and she really likes you. When are you free to meet her?"

Qin Ren: I just wanted to find a job. How did I become everyone's favorite?

Theme: Love can change everything.
