Auspicious and Fortunate in the Qing Dynasty

Ji Buchuhe didn't want to be reborn. She'd lived to a ripe old age and died peacefully. That seemed like a fine way to go. But she still owed a debt of love, and the man she'd hurt had spent his whole life suffering because of her. His resentment ran so deep that he insisted on bringing her back to life. "Why did you drag me back? Wasn't the obedient little lovebird the one you wanted?" "I did think so once. It would have been easier, too." He said, "But every debt has its creditor. I have to collect from you for what happened between us." A laid-back, sweet-on-the-outside but dark-on-the-inside heroine vs. a scheming, dog-like hero It really is a Mary Sue story: a slow-burn, serious drama with silly romance, grown-ups weighing their options and circling each other, and sweetness that builds over time. No villains. Humanity's greatest enemy is itself. A partly fictionalized setting, not historically accurate. The reason is explained in the main text, but in short, history buffs may want to skip this one. Theme: Know yourself before you try to understand the world
