Ordered to Eat Candy

Ning Shu and the heir to the Duke of Jin grew up together as childhood sweethearts. They were about to get married when someone intervened, and her childhood sweetheart married her half-sister instead. Everyone was waiting to see her make a fool of herself. But then the Empress Dowager took a liking to her and summoned her to the palace. They all thought Ning Shu would only be keeping the Empress Dowager company. Who could have guessed that, before long, she would be keeping the Empress company as the empress herself? No one knows that Ning Shu can hear porcelain talk. A blue-and-white dragon-patterned flask teaches her how to review memorials; A Xing white porcelain powder box teaches her about beauty and skincare; A celadon hexagonal brush washer teaches her poetry and witty repartee... Of all the porcelain pieces, Ning Shu likes a peacock-blue-glazed jar best. She secretly keeps lots of candy inside it, but the jar never says a word. Every day Ning Shu strokes it and asks, "Little Peacock, why won't you talk? Tell us what's bothering you so we can all have a laugh." One day, the peacock-blue-glazed jar finally can't take it anymore and speaks: "You touched Me, so you'll take responsibility for Me!" Ning Shu: "Hahahahahaha." The next day, people from the emperor's bedchamber really do come to take her away. [Purely fictional, sweet and satisfying story. Porcelain from different dynasties all mixed together. Please don't nitpick the history.] [A fun story, not a serious palace-intrigue or household-strife novel. Please don't read if that's not your thing.] [Weibo: Pian Yu] This story was submitted to a writing competition themed around science and technology strengthening the nation. Reason for entry: Ning Shu and the porcelain pieces from the museum transmigrate together.
