Lighting the Lamp

Lin Ze was a down-on-his-luck college student who figured he'd probably keep drifting through life like this forever. Until he discovered... that in his dreams, he was carrying a lantern and taking part in a competition. In a fit of excitement, he thought the dream was incredibly novel, so he tore apart the trial ground. And then the olive branches from wealthy families, the Night Watch Association's death glares, and a friend request from the Imperial Clan's Ripper all came pouring in. After reaching the pinnacle of life and then letting loose, Lin Ze couldn't help but demolish an SSS-rank trial ground. Looking at the association's bill for damages, he shook his head desperately. "No, that can't be right. The trial ground collapsed by itself. I'm just a weak, pitiful little kitten..." The Ripper, driven into a state of despair by Lin Ze: "...?"

1. No writing advice, please. The worldbuilding is explained in the author's note for Chapter 1. It's also explained in the author's note for the paid chapter. If you think the setting is confusing from Chapter 1, all I can say is: you're welcome to leave. We read novels to enjoy ourselves. If the setting confuses you and you don't read the author's notes, you'll just lose your immersion. There's no need to waste time you could spend enjoying other novels. We're strangers who happened to cross paths, and I'm sorry my limited ability has made the setting confusing for you. But even if you stick around until Chapter 16 to tell me the setting is confusing, I won't send you a red envelope as compensation for emotional distress. So why not just leave if you can't understand Chapter 1? If you really want to, you can leave a negative review. There's no need to make yourself miserable.

3. Writing isn't easy. I hope everyone can support original work, and more than anything, I hope I never put down my pen because you, sitting in front of your screen, read pirated copies.

A simultaneous upcoming novel, The Original Card Draw: Online God-Grinding, is already five chapters in. If you're interested, please add it to your reading list. Thank you, cuties!

Theme: May everyone holding a lantern have light in their heart
