Yan Ziyu gives her a cool glance and closes the attendance sheet. "I won't."

Zhen Mi's eyes light up like a squirrel's. "Senior, you remember my name?"

Yan Ziyu doesn't remember. After a two-second silence, he slowly says, "Your name and Zhen Mi's differ by one insect radical. I won't mistake them."

Yan Ziyu has been single since his first year of college, all the way through graduate school. He's never had a girlfriend.

His mother, Mrs. Jiang, has been worrying herself sick over his love life. At last, she takes a liking to a young woman and excitedly tells him about her.

"I went to the hospital to see your dad last night and ran into a young woman."

"She was so pretty and delicate, such a tiny little thing. You just want to dote on her..."

Yan Ziyu is used to this. He makes his position clear, leaving no room for hope. "Mom, I don't like her. I don't now, and I never will."

Not long afterward.

After going through countless hardships, Zhen Mi finally wins Yan Ziyu over. Overcome with emotion, she hugs him and tells him all about the difficulties she faced while pursuing him.

When she gets to the part about the hospital, Yan Ziyu realizes something is off and asks, "A strange woman?"

"Yeah." Zhen Mi nods emphatically, her expression serious. "In the middle of the night, she wore a hat and sunglasses and tried to strike up a conversation with me. She even asked if I had a boyfriend. Isn't that weird?"

Yan Ziyu freezes.

Zhen Mi pats her chest, still shaken. "Good thing I got away quickly. Otherwise, she might've drugged me and sent me to the far northwest to sell lamb skewers."

Yan Ziyu: "..."

A few months later.

Zhen Mi and Yan Ziyu are on a date when they run into Mrs. Jiang, who invites them for tea.

To their shock, she's the very strange woman Zhen Mi met at the hospital.

After two seconds of shock, Zhen Mi can't help imagining Mrs. Jiang throwing a check at her and telling her to leave her son. She nervously endures the woman's stern gaze.

Then Mrs. Jiang hands her a black card and says kindly, "Here's some pocket money for you. If it's not enough, just ask me for more."

Zhen Mi: "..."
