The Lady Who Invested in Tesla

Some say he predicted both world wars; Some say he foresaw the sinking of the Titanic; Others say the FBI hung his photo at the top of its secret building’s most-wanted list. He is Nikola Tesla, Edison’s nemesis, a great scientist who devoted his life to science and held more than 700 patents. He was a "god" of science, and also a "man" who ultimately died in poverty. When Winnie Carter, a former interstellar merchant, accidentally returns to the nineteenth century, she is an assistant at Graz University of Technology, a mysterious benefactor, and the wealthy woman rumored to have funded a young scientist. When Edison refuses to pay the promised fifty thousand dollars: "Tesla, you really don’t understand American humor." Winnie, the second-largest shareholder: "Mr. Edison, I’d like to withdraw my investment." Edison: "???" Winnie: "You really don’t understand our alien humor." I’m also updating another story at the same time, "The Batfamily’s Little Batarang." Click into my profile to find it. It has a very cute style, and you’ll love it! Synopsis: Who am I? Batarang Lancer Wayne. (Bruce doesn’t approve of the name, of course.) Where am I? In someone’s utility belt, pressed tightly against someone’s clearly defined muscles. (No, I’m getting embarrassed.) What am I doing? Waiting to be stabbed into some poor little unlucky person’s body. (I often think about stabbing myself into the heads of a few heavyweight psychopaths to see what’s going on in there, but Bruce won’t allow it.) What’s my identity? At first, I thought I was just an ordinary batarang that had gained a spirit. Then I found out I was wrong. My body really is a batarang, but my consciousness is actually that of a well-behaved young daughter from a family of socialites who died young. This story is also known as "Dad’s Powers Are My Kryptonite." Of course a batarang belongs with Batman. Otherwise, would he hand it over to someone else? Theme: Great scientists shouldn’t have ended up that way.
