Wild Rose

A rebellious young man and fiery abandon

Fang Wenjing's roommate died suddenly in their room.

For three days, she didn't notice.

When she came home from work, police officers were coming and going.

Her calm indifference caught Zhang Zhiyi's attention.

It was as if she'd expected all of this.

During her statement, she answered "Okay" five times in all, like a puppet obeying orders.

When Fang Wenjing saw the police, strangely, she didn't feel the slightest surprise.

She had already imagined countless times what would happen if she or her roommate died suddenly.

Just like how, every time she took the elevator, she wondered what would happen if it fell.

She had thought countless times about what would happen after she died.

If she couldn't afford a cemetery plot, they could just scatter her ashes on the ground.

The sea would do, too.

*

The first time Fang Wenjing met Zhang Zhiyi, she envied him.

Healthy and full of life, passionate and free-spirited, he was the stark opposite of her numb indifference.

Later, when she learned about his family, she envied him even more.

You see, in this world there are people like her, stuck in the mud, and people like Zhang Zhiyi, a moon hanging high in the sky.

Later still, Zhang Zhiyi told her he liked her.

She wondered, What could he possibly like about me?

I'm so ordinary, so average, so timid and insecure.

She didn't believe him, but greedily wanted to seize the chance anyway.

Zhang Zhiyi said, "In a crowd, I can spot you at a glance. You're the most special one. You walk alone through the sea of people, loneliness clinging to you from head to toe. How lucky I am that everyone else is kept at a distance by your coldness, and I'm the only one brave enough to come close and hold on to you."

A realistic story.

Sorry for changing the upcoming novel. I can't write anything else right now, so I'll write this one first.

Theme: When you suddenly see life flourishing before your eyes, remember that many people in this world are suffering.
