Shu Xue had transmigrated three years ago, but had never seen a real beastkin. That changed when the all-human nation she lived in lost the war and was unified by the Federation.
When she registered her identity again, she wrote “human men” under sexual orientation, crossing out beastkin, demi-humans, and hybrids.
Other than that, life was as still as a dead pond.
She was dull and quiet, always doing ordinary, unremarkable work.
Her boss introduced her to a man for a blind date. He was said to serve in the Federation army, with a handsome face, a bright future, and a generous salary. After they married, he would be sent away on assignments, and his wife would receive a generous allowance.
Shu Xue agreed without a second thought.
The first time she saw him, Shu Xue exclaimed in surprise, “Has anyone ever told you that you look a little like that Federation general? His name is...”
“Unosis.” He looked at her with golden eyes that inexplicably made her shiver, as if she were being watched by a predator.
Shu Xue nodded. “But he’s beastkin, right? You’re human.”
He lowered his eyes and did not argue.
After they married, Shu Xue was indeed very happy. Her husband was thoughtful, reliable, wealthy, and generous. He was also extremely clingy, and hated dogs so much that he absolutely refused to let them get one.
But why did silver-white dog hair keep showing up around the house?
Half-asleep, she had felt something furry brush against her legs.
And after they had finally finished, he grew even bigger and kept her locked in place for an hour.
Shu Xue was frightened. What secret was her husband hiding?
A year ago, Federation General Unosis had ended up stranded in enemy territory, where his silver wolf form was exposed. A human girl found him, and he was humiliatingly forced to serve as her watchdog.
Unosis sternly warned her to stay away, but the girl had hearing problems and thought he was barking, so she treated him like a real dog.
The enemy nation was racist, and any beastkin discovered there would be executed on the spot. While in hiding, Unosis stayed in his original form, enduring the girl's daily ear-biting, tail-rubbing, and enthusiastic face-plants into his chest.
But she also gently groomed his fur, cared about his favorite foods, and played snowball fights with him in the woods at sunset. At night, she pressed her soft body tightly against him for warmth.
Then one day, she came home from work and stared out the window for a long time before suddenly suggesting that they go on a trip together.
She took him to the enemy nation's border, unclasped his collar, tossed away his dog tag, and pointed to the other side. “Go on.”
“The world over there is better. Don't come back.”

The heroine's hearing problem will be cured. The hero is an aloof, fierce, cold silver wolf (?), but a lovesick puppy (√).
A normal dog-and-girl story, wholesome, sweet with a touch of bittersweetness.
Theme: True love lasts forever
