A Wild Taoist’s Record of Subduing Demons

Originally titled My Junior Brother Tortured Me a Thousand Times, but I changed it because it didn't seem to fit the story.

Synopsis: The foremost of the immortal sects and a demon who descended upon the world are both sent back a hundred years, and through a twist of fate are forced to become fellow disciples.

Li Songyun, who appears later in the story, is the first protagonist whose perspective we follow. This is a bottom-focused story. The Demon King who appears first is the top. The prologue in Chapter One is just background information and can be skipped.

Daoist Li was originally an ordinary man, single-mindedly devoted to his path. His early years were difficult, and misfortune followed him at every turn. An orphan, he survived by begging until a master finally took him in, only for the man to turn out to be a charlatan with no real ability. Even the old fraud didn't last long. When Li was seventeen, he fell gravely ill and passed away. From then on, young Daoist Li plunged into the mountains, devoting himself wholeheartedly to the half of an obscure manual his master had left behind, hoping to sail through life like a boat upon the sea, with his remaining years stretching ahead.

Perhaps his sincerity moved the heavens. By a twist of fate, he truly became the greatest cultivator in the immortal world. Unfortunately, he had barely settled into the position of sect leader before he was thrust into a duel with the great demon who, a thousand years earlier, had single-handedly wiped out the entire immortal world.

Stubborn by nature, Daoist Li was convinced that when Heaven entrusts someone with a great task, they must see it through, even at the cost of their life. Who could have expected the gap in their strength to be so vast? He had no choice but to fight to the death, taking his enemy down with him.

He thought that giving his life would let him complete his task and retire from the world. But the ways of Heaven are just, and the causes and effects of fate are hard to fathom. In the turn of a moment, he opened his eyes again and found himself a hundred years in the past.

The foremost figure of the immortal sects and the great demon he had meant to defeat had both become weaklings again. Daoist Li, who had long dreamed of vanquishing demons, traveled across mountains and rivers to find his enemy at last. But when they met again, he couldn't bring himself to strike.
