Deceiving the Emperor

[Upcoming story: Immortal Heroic Fantasy, "Killing Beauty," please add it to your collection!]

Blurb

An obsessively possessive emperor x a rational beauty

Sima Xun, an "average-looking" imperial consort, was the emperor Yan Suixin's favorite. Those who couldn't stand it told him that Yan Suixin was deeply in love with someone else, and that Sima Xun was just a stand-in. Sima Xun only smiled, thinking perhaps Yan Suixin was blind.

Much later, someone else told him that Yan Suixin had feelings for him. Sima Xun still smiled without a word, thinking, "Oh no, he's even blinder now."

A few years later, everyone around him told him Yan Suixin loved no one but him. Sima Xun's smile faded, and he said coolly, "But what am I supposed to do? I've never had him in my heart."

(The emperor is a bit of a jerk at first, but our beauty will teach him how to behave.)

Reading guide

1. Old-school, melodramatic, and neither lead is perfect.

2. The setting and plot draw on the first world of the quick transmigration story, so some parts will overlap. The later plot and characters will be different.

3. I ate the logic!

Upcoming story: Immortal Heroic Fantasy, "Killing Beauty"

Liuqing, the head of the Xuanmen sect, is calm, detached, and poised, like an immortal descended from heaven. But he has a little hobby: he loves admiring himself in the mirror. Over time, he starts to suspect he's fallen in love with himself!!!

Many years later...

A man pressed close to his ear and teased, "If I'd known you cared so much about looks, I'd have let you keep wearing my face. You used to stand in front of the mirror three times a day, but now that we've switched bodies back, you won't even look at your husband?"

Liuqing's ears flushed at his words. He stammered, "...If you hadn't shown up, I really would have thought I was in love with myself."

Theme: Find the light in adversity, stay true to yourself, and keep moving forward.
