Being a Widow Is Pretty Great

Shen Qingyan, the eldest princess of Great Zhou, married three times.

The first time, she married her childhood sweetheart, her cousin. But after the Regent took an interest in her at a banquet, he killed her husband and forcibly took her away.

The second time, she married the powerful Regent. After lying low for three years, she seized his power and personally cut off his head, securing the imperial throne.

The third time, she married a great general who had crushed rebels and avenged the wronged. Together, they opposed her brother the emperor, who discarded his allies once they were no longer useful. After a palace coup, the emperor died and the general was killed. She put the not-yet-one-year-old crown prince on the throne and became the Regent Princess.

After a lifetime of rises and falls, she had never been in control of her own fate.

Shen Qingyan transformed from a delicate noblewoman into a ruthless black lotus.

At last, she realized that women don't have to marry and raise children. Being a widow is pretty great.
