The Delicate Maid Is Hard to Handle

The princess had been in the household barely a month when she replaced every pretty maid, plump or slender, who clustered around her husband. The lucky ones were reassigned elsewhere in the residence; the unlucky ones were taken away by a broker and sold off. As the familiar girls around her grew fewer by the day, Shaoyao couldn't stop feeling anxious, day or night. Whenever she closed her eyes, all she could see was herself being dragged away in the middle of the night... She'd long since given up dreaming of becoming a concubine! Counting on her fingers, among the men who seemed interested in her, there was Liu, the bookkeeper, an old lecher; Li Dafu in the kitchen, who liked to beat his wife after a few drinks; and Xu Qing at the gate, a miser who wouldn't part with a single coin... Only Qingsong, who worked in the study, seemed halfway decent. But before Shaoyao could even give him a knowing look, her drunk master dragged her into the bushes... [Reader's Note]: 1. The heroine is a hardworking ancient-world wage slave, and she will eventually gain her freedom from slavery. 2. This is not a reborn or transmigration story, so please don't judge these women by modern standards. 3. The male lead and the princess are not truly husband and wife. Theme: Self-improvement
