I prefer historical danmei. In the relationship, I like aloof tops and passionate bottoms (not every book on this list necessarily fits). I like melodramatic angst, and mainly read for the couples. Characterization and the romance matter most to me; I’m not picky about anything else.

Light, sweet reads with no emotional strain. The romance is very sweet, with very little angst. Overall, they’re sugary sweet, and the plots aren’t complicated.
