Boss Jiang, It's Been Ten Years

A devoted, flirtatious professor top x a hardworking breakfast-shop owner bottom

When Jiang Zong was 34, someone introduced him to a potential date.

Apparently, the guy was tall and handsome, a university professor, owned a house and a car, and was quite a catch.

Jiang Zong laughed it off, thinking, Don't be ridiculous.

Why would someone like that be interested in him? Was it because he was old, or because he came with a kid?

What Jiang Zong didn't know was that this man had had his eye on him for a long time.

For ten years, in fact.

Ten years later, the man said to him, "Boss Jiang, give me a chance."

Jiang Zong agreed in a daze.

Then, just as bewilderedly, he ended up giving himself to the man.

Afterward, Jiang Zong reflected and decided it wasn't his fault.

The older guy was just too good at flirting. He couldn't resist.

When the kitchen was filling up with cookware and Jiang Zong's face had gotten round from being so well-fed, he confronted the culprit.

"Shen Yizhi, why do you have to be such a good cook?"

The older man smiled knowingly and played coy. "Figure it out."

Later, at a class reunion, someone envied Jiang Zong, saying that after seeing Shen Yizhi post food photos on his social media every day, it was clear Jiang Zong was eating very well.

Someone else took the opportunity to bring up an old story.

"Jiang Zong got what he wished for. Remember that time we played Truth or Dare together? Jiang Zong drew the question about his ideal partner, and all he said was that the guy had to be a good cook."

Jiang Zong suddenly saw the light.

Back home, he put his arms around the man and asked, "Shen Yizhi, are you stupid?"

The man caught his hand and kissed it.

"Mm. I only did one smart thing in my life."

"What was that?"

"Loving you."

Note: The daughter is not biologically related to him. Same-sex marriage becomes legal later in the story.
