Childhood Friends in Pairs

Lin Xiao and Zhang Mi are childhood friends, and childhood rivals.

Lin Xiao was always good at fighting, while Zhang Mi was always so sweet and well-behaved that everyone adored him.

Whenever Zhang Mi got into trouble, Lin Xiao could just be passing by and somehow end up as the main culprit.

Whenever Lin Xiao finally tried to date someone, Zhang Mi would scare them off.

The thing is, they both grew up. Lin Xiao thought he’d finally break free of this curse. Surely this guy couldn’t keep acting pitiful forever...

But it turned out he couldn’t beat Zhang Mi!

Zhang Mi looks sweet and gentle, and a little frail, but he’s astonishingly strong. He can pin Lin Xiao down with one arm, and no matter how hard Lin Xiao struggles, he can’t turn the tables.

Same Regiment, No Dating [Interstellar]

In an age of living for entertainment, the guns of war arrive without warning.

With smoke and flames all around, Lin Buba’s village is razed to the ground. Dragging a tattered shoe, leading a goat, and filled with grief, he signs up for the army.

“Private Regiment 048, Lin Buba from Anjiatun, Su Pingling, reporting for duty!”

·

Ji Jiashu takes command of the small Regiment 048 as a junior officer. When he sees a pair of tattered shoes and a skinny goat, he feels despair.

·

At first, Ji Jiashu looks down on Lin Buba, who’s illiterate and dark-skinned.

But Lin Buba always looks up at him with clear black-and-white eyes. “Awaiting your orders, Commander!” “Commander, what the hell is a mecha?” “Please teach me to read!”

Little by little, his heart changes as they share a brotherhood forged in the same uniform.

·

Ji Jiashu starts to regret teaching this young soldier to read. At first, things are fine. He can still hold Lin Buba’s hand and guide him as he writes.

But as soon as Lin Buba learns a few words, he lets go of Ji Jiashu’s hand and loudly reads from the military regulations.

“Dating within the same regiment is prohibited!”
