Soft and Sweet

Story blurb: Gu Ruanruan always believed that you made your own life. As long as you kept your feet on the ground and took things one step at a time, life would keep getting better. But she never expected it to turn out like this. Her brother stayed up all night copying books for a few taels of silver, and ended up becoming the emperor’s tutor? Her husband agonized over the imperial exams until he was pulling his hair out and slapping his forehead raw, and ended up becoming Grand Secretary? Her little brother, who used to run around shrieking as geese chased him, became the emperor, the emperor?! Gu Ruanruan suddenly found herself the woman behind a whole crowd of powerful men, and she was a little flustered. Someone asked Gu Ruanruan how she had managed to raise so many outstanding men. Gu Ruanruan: “They just turned out like this on their own. I never did anything.” A censor who had just been dismissed because of Gu Ruanruan: “Ha!” A prince who had just spent the whole day being berated by the emperor’s tutor because of Gu Ruanruan: “Ha!!” A minister whose entire household had just been seized by the Grand Secretary because of Gu Ruanruan: “Ha!!!” You did nothing, and they all protect you??? They’re family, after all, so they ought to look alike. But when Jiang Zhaozhao gets her hands on the younger brothers’ portraits, she realizes there’s a major problem.
