When the apocalypse suddenly arrives, water becomes more expensive by the day, almost as valuable as oil and gold.

To ease the burden on his parents, Lin Wan leaves his village and goes to the city. At eighteen, he becomes a water delivery worker.

It's a decent job, and he can get water at the employee price, twenty percent cheaper than elsewhere.

After working hard for a year, Lin Wan finally decides to treat himself. He goes to the supermarket and buys a bag of expensive baby octopus, one of his favorite dishes. He loves it.

He washes and blanches them. Bubbles rise as the water boils in the pot. Just as Lin Wan is about to stir them with his chopsticks, the sight before him gives him a terrible fright: a pair of huge, blue, egg-like eyes. Seven or eight tentacles cling to a dead baby octopus, and the creature gazes at him curiously with its big eyes.

Lin Wan's heart pounds. He's doomed. He clearly bought frozen octopus, so why is there a live one waving its tentacles around in the pot? And it's blue. Could it be poisonous?

The baby octopus sees its frightened father and squirts water at him, then makes a sound: "Goo... goo-goo."

It means, "Daddy, Daddy, I'm hungry, I'm hungry..."
