A Stretch of Cold Mountain

Cheng Ji'an is a veteran at the Six Fan Gate. He joined at sixteen, specializes in tracking, and has worked diligently for eleven years. Yet none of that could withstand one casual glance by the private school gate, beneath the parasol tree. Only when he learned he had to leave did he realize that, now that they might never see each other again for the rest of their lives, his life could be so interesting. A short story, just one chapter.

There are also other short stories.
