Listening to Spring Rain All Night in a Small Tower

A short story in six brief sections. In an unremarkable, narrow, impoverished alley in the capital, there is a tavern called "Little Tower." The owner is too lazy to wait on customers and would be delighted if nobody came in, yet he keeps a table ready especially for Liu Qing, the famed constable with a deft hand. Liu Qing of the Six Doors just happens to love this sort of place. Whether he has business there or not, he always stops by, practically rushing to put himself in the owner's way. One drizzly spring night, Liu Qing comes in for his usual drink and discovers the tangled ties of fate between two generations, formed more than a decade ago. Their complicated entanglements are simply a story of each thinking the other doesn't know. It's no act: the deeper the feeling, the stronger the affection. The pairing is unclear because even I don't know who tops or bottoms, but feel free to imagine.

There are other short stories, too.
