I Ran Away After Raising Gin

[This is a self-indulgent fic. I got criticized for breaking up Shinichi and Ran as soon as I posted it, and got nitpicked over everything from character settings, dialogue, and plot to sexual orientation. I can't take it anymore, it's seriously messing with my head. Let's part on good terms. Thanks for stopping by.]

After inheriting a fortune and a real estate business, I arrived full of confidence in Beika Town, supposedly deeply cursed by the Grim Reaper. My goal was to bring its depressed property prices back to their peak.

...But why is it so hard? Beika Town is so peaceful, you either get into an accident when you go out or get kidnapped and tied up with a bomb. Not only have I failed to save property prices, I nearly lost my life... Is it too late to regret this?

To stay alive, I hired a handsome silver-haired bodyguard with a serious gangster vibe.

I picked him for his looks, but I never expected him to be so great. Not only is my life secure, his cooking is right up my alley. This man is dangerously sweet. I have to find a way to marry him!

But later, I discovered things were far from simple. Was he actually a crooked employee at that biopharmaceutical company that scams old people? And was he only treating me like this to steal the legendary family genetic code?

Kuso, if you don't break up with a man like that, are you saving him for the holidays? We're done, we're done! There are plenty of fish in the sea, and Chuuya is right next door in Yokohama!

Just as I held Chuuya in my arms, ready to whisper sweet nothings, the hotel room door was suddenly kicked open.

I turned around and, to my surprise, my ex-boyfriend was pointing a gun at me. "You think you can run?"
