The World Beneath My Sleeve, a Haunting Melody

The melodramatic version: Yi Mo [sitting on the ground, plucking petals]: Nian'er chose her family over me... Ling Sheng [snatches the flower and keeps plucking]: Yi'er doesn't take me, her husband, seriously at all... Yi Mo [turning her head]: Your Majesty, looks like we're in the same boat. Ling Sheng [standing up, throwing the stem and leaves at her head, scoffing]: Who's in the same boat as you! (Thinking with a sigh: If only I were you...)

The tongue-twister version: The realm is a game of strategy, and the ruler makes the moves. But who could have guessed that the two women by his side would be the ones shaping the fate of the world? His beloved, his cousin: As he wavers between them, who truly loves him, and who will stay by his side to witness the flowers bloom?

*A woman in men's clothing, valiant on horseback with spear in hand, tender and passionate: whose realm will she help build? In a single day, the game is exposed, the pawn is discarded, love cannot end, and loyalty remains unbroken. A heart and the best years of a life are given to the wrong person. Who will sigh?

*Childhood sweethearts, raised together from a young age: can they avoid the pain and betrayal deliberately inflicted upon them? Can they win back the true heart of the one they love? Once the rain clears and the waves subside, how can a heart gone cold ever warm again?

A general, a queen, a ruler, and a consort. The story is a painful love quadrangle. It leads into a romance between women, along with a heterosexual romance. The plot is clichéd and melodramatic, and the pacing is slow. I want to try writing a tragic romance wrapped in political intrigue, though I don't know if I'll manage it...

P.S. A novella. I won't abandon it, but it doesn't have a perfect ending... (A quiet aside: I have to do justice to the title, after all.) (Also: Apart from updates, everything else is a fake update, just minor edits to fix typos and punctuation. Please ignore them.)

Can I take back the promise to write a modern-day story? I want to write about a different couple, a princess and a young marquis. The timeline will probably be about a hundred years after this story. I'm new here, please show your support~ Also, check out Smoke and Shadow Like a Painting.
