When the Pear Blossoms Fall

They all live in the same compound. Yan Xinxue, Ai Min, and Ai Zheng have been childhood playmates, inseparable friends who grew up together, like brothers and sisters in one family.

But there is more between Yan Xinxue and Ai Min.

Yan Xinxue and Ai Min were born one after the other in seasons when pear blossoms fell. The pear tree outside their family home in the compound watched them grow up, silently bearing witness to their bond.

At three, they picked up fallen leaves under the tree, drew simple pictures to give each other as keepsakes, and talked about what they wanted to be when they grew up.

At six, frail Ai Min tried climbing trees and getting into mischief like the boys. She scraped her knees, but didn't care, because she wanted to bring a pear to her dear big sister Xin.

At nine, Yan Xinxue, whose drawing skills were beginning to flourish, carved on a pear tree leaf an image of Ai Min smiling brightly with a pear in her hands beneath the tree three years earlier, then gave it to her.

At twelve, they sat back to back beneath the tree, and Ai Min's lively flute music found its way into Yan Xinxue's sketches.

At fifteen, on their way home from school, Ai Min, who had inherited heart disease, suffered a sudden attack. Yan Xinxue carried her straight into the emergency room.

At eighteen, Yan Xinxue took the girl she loved to the pear tree that had witnessed them growing up together and confessed her feelings outright.

At twenty-one, they reunited during the holidays, and Ai Min brought her little girlfriend home to meet her family...

At twenty-four, Yan Xinxue got pregnant and married into the Ai family as she had wished, but not to the person she loved...

At twenty-seven, after leaving home for three years following a devastating blow, Ai Min returned, no longer the delicate, sickly girl she used to be. She was determined to win back the one she loved.

Pear blossoms bloom and fall, witnessing partings and reunions, joy and sorrow.

If we meet again, we'll speak of what we first felt.

The child belongs to the female lead, and so does the wife!

(mutters quietly) Actually, I meant to finish writing the whole thing before posting it. I got too excited and hit publish by mistake... Why am I such a mess? QAQ

The cover may be ugly, but at least there's a cover...
