It is based on real historical events. During the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty, Daotong, the magistrate of Panyu County, was not afraid of power and attacked the local tyrants. He was falsely accused by Zhu Liangzu, the Marquis of Yongjia. Zhu Yuanzhang ordered Dao Tong to be executed, and soon received a memorial from Dao Tong recommending Zhu Liangzu, and thus learned about Zhu Liangzu's crimes of sheltering bullies and oppressing the people. Zhu Yuanzhang immediately sent an envoy to Panyu to pardon Daotong. The two envoys arrived on the same day, but the first one was slightly faster. When the envoy from behind appeared, Daotong had been killed. Zhu Yuanzhang regretted deeply, and the following year he summoned Zhu Liang's grandfather and son to Beijing and had him whipped to death in the palace.
