Nanjing, 1645. The last breath of the Ming dynasty swept past pomegranate blossoms bursting into bloom across the city.
Zhou Ying, daughter of a military officer of the Xiaoling Guard, had mastered her family's swordsmanship from childhood, but she could not stop the world from crumbling. Her fiance said he was going to guard a tomb, while her father sat in his wheelchair, polishing the ancestral sword again and again. All she wanted was to keep her family alive. Until, by the Qinhuai River, she saw thousands of people join hands and plunge into its depths rather than shave their heads.
She realized some things mattered more than life.
When the emperor abandoned the city and fled, and the officials knelt to welcome their new ruler, she took up the sword that was "passed down to sons, never daughters" and headed for Xiaoling Mausoleum beneath Zijin Mountain. There were no reinforcements, no hope of victory, only a group of people who refused to kneel, and her fiance, who had said, "I'll marry you in the next life."
Pomegranate blossoms fell like blood, and the stone beasts along the spirit way stood silent. Here, they would hold a final funeral for a dynasty on the verge of death.
This is a story about what people can hold on to when they are about to lose everything.
Last week, I was reading A Short Account of the Southern Ming and came across this passage:
"On the twenty-ninth day of the seventh month, Wuyin, at Nanjing's Xiaoling Guard, there were originally forty-eight camps, under the command of the military students of the Shenle Temple. When Qing troops entered, they rallied a crowd. At night, each man took a bundle of firewood, and they stormed the city gate and set it ablaze. The Qing commander sent out troops and shot two men dead with a single arrow. The camp soldiers fired cannons, but not a single Qing soldier was hurt, and they were defeated. Only eighteen camp soldiers remained. The Qing surrounded them with fifty men but could not defeat them and suffered casualties. More troops were sent, and they were defeated again. Three hundred men were all killed. Only one camp soldier remained, while only three Qing soldiers survived. The three surrounded the one and fought. Then the camp soldier used a hooked blade to rip open the belly of one Qing soldier, spilling his intestines. The man endured the pain and killed another Qing soldier before finally dying. Only two Qing soldiers remained, and they fled.
Eighteen camp soldiers killed three hundred Qing soldiers. They were indeed brave. The one survivor fought three men and even split one man's belly open: braver still. Even with his intestines severed, he managed to kill another soldier before dying alongside him. The Qing soldiers were no match. How can anyone say the ranks had no worthy generals? What a pity that their names were never passed down."
After reading it, I collapsed over my desk and wept. For several days, I forgot to eat or sleep as I wrote this novel. I hope it can make a small contribution to inspiring my fellow countrymen's love of country.
Theme: Give your life for the Way, carry on the written word with your blood; let your soul return to Huaxia, and your heart shine through the ages.
After seeing the slices of Mengzhu eating melons, I couldn't bear to read the history of the Ming Dynasty and the barbaric history of the Qing Dynasty.
I read a short article during my lunch break, and the result was "a sudden downpour of tears." When I read the copy again, it turned out that the author had already cried bitterly in advance.
I couldn't calm down after watching it for a long time. When I first watched the dispute between Zhou Ying and her father, I was surprised by her extraordinary thinking. Later, when talking about the issue of foolishness and loyalty, her disapproval turned into practice in the end. The dark clouds of the times hang over everyone's head. In the same sea area, the small family lives in the country. How can the country's collapse not overturn the small family? No one can survive alone. The writing makes people cry. Today, the story of Xiaolingwei is still engraved in Xiaoling Mausoleum of Ming Dynasty. The pines and cypresses are evergreen, the clouds are rolling and rolling, and the subtle national spirit has always inspired generation after generation. Visitors stopped, silent, lamented, and reflected. Thousands of years later, the seeds are still taking root and sprouting.
It's so well written, I'm so moved
It's so well written, with completely different writing style, plot, and height that can't be found on this platform today. You can feel great emotions from Yingniang.
It's so well written. When the Manchus conquered Nanjing, the atrocities committed by the Japanese army, the traitors who survived, the martyrs who died bravely, and the soldiers who prepared to fight back, everyone's image was established. The Qing Dynasty dramas were filmed over and over again and could only cover the harem, because the policies of the previous dynasty were very entangled, both to prevent the Han people and to use the Han people. In the end, they created a closed country, which made China fall behind during the industrial revolution of other countries. Fortunately, China has finally caught up with the world's advanced technology. It is really well written.
Thank you to heaven, thank you to earth, thank you for your hard work~
