Deceiving the World

"Talk of heroes, debate heroism: who is a hero?" As an assassin of the Sea of Misery, Pei Rong has no need to ponder this question. An assassin has only one rule: survive, and survive as long as possible. But as a Cihang spy, Pei Rong often finds himself thinking about it. His life is too hard. Sometimes he wants to take a reckless chance, just in case it leads to a whole new world. Pei Rong owns four blades. The first is a narrow saber, thin and slender, its blood never quite dry. Its mottled nicks bear witness to the countless lives he has taken. The second is the Golden Plume Saber, six feet long, with an eagle-feather-shaped guard. Its former owner was so destitute that he pried every jewel from the scabbard and sold them, leaving Pei Rong with nothing but a dull gray iron shell. The rough cracks along its edge speak of its owner's tempestuous courage. The third is the Nameless Blade, broken in half. Once, princes and ministers trembled at its drawn edge. Now, it lies in yellow dust, its bones withered among the weeds. The fourth is Frost of the Flowing Heavens. This is... his love. In the end, the four blades are forged together into one... Talk of heroes, debate heroism: who, exactly, is a hero? "This time, I'll save you." Wind and frost whiten Pei Rong's brows and lashes, making his lacquer-dark eyes seem deeper still. He throws open his heavy wolf-fur cloak. With a sharp clang, his cold blade leaves its sheath, stirring up a howling snowstorm that blankets the mountains in white. "I'll become a nameless blade, and carve the seasons for you." Important notes: The early plot is rather grim. The Sea of Misery is a demonic sect, and as such, it should naturally inspire fear and hatred. Once the protagonist leaves the Sea of Misery, the world around him becomes much more normal and lighthearted. Please stick with it for a little while. Both protagonists grow over the course of the story. One will grow from an ordinary person into a hero; the other will go from a heartless demon to someone who understands the human heart. Romance is not the focus; the plot is very important. I hope you'll be patient with me as we bring this novel to completion together. Important, important, pay attention: 1. No matter what you see in the story, please trust that this is definitely 1v1 [the gong has dissociative identities]. 2. I have a day job. Updates will be daily at first, then every other day later on. 3. Please leave lots of comments! This tiny author lives on them. 4. Fan Hui Molu (A Chan) is the gong, and Pei Rong is the shou. [A stunning, overwhelmingly powerful gong with dissociative identities x a strong, levelheaded assassin shou] Coming soon: a lighthearted, sweet, satisfying story, "[Quick Transmigration] Invincible from the Start": My good friend's novel: Theme:
