What a Trap

Yue Chu is the foolish younger brother of the overpowered protagonist in the original story. As a child, he was taken in as a servant by Wan Yue Valley's demonic master, and that was the only reason he survived. In the original, less than a year after his biological older brother takes him out of the valley, he is supposed to fall into a lake and drown.

To stay alive, Yue Chu frantically shows off his professional skills, hoping to keep his servant's job. But the demon master still kicks him aside, and he is officially out of work.

Forced into unemployment, Yue Chu is taken in by his biological older brother. He plans to live a carefree life from then on, only to discover that the valley master's terrible reputation has caused him to be ostracized. With no other choice, Yue Chu launches an all-out smear campaign

Cultivator A: "I heard the master of Wan Yue Valley is a bloodthirsty brute. You've served him for years, so your hands must be stained with the blood of countless innocents!"

Yue Chu, wiping away a tea-green tear: "Back then, I was forced to serve that demon. I saw him devour children with my own eyes. I could only hate that I was too weak to stop him!"

Cultivator B: "Get away from me! I don't want to share a room with someone who reeks of that demon!"

Yue Chu, looking sorrowful: "It must be because that demon never bathes, and his filth got all over me. Sorry to bother you. Would it be all right if I stood this far away?"

And so, he reaps quite a harvest.

Until one day, the valley master he has smeared so thoroughly that even his own mother wouldn't recognize him comes looking for him

A seemingly calm shou who inwardly grumbles and takes things as they come x a beautiful gong who is arrogant, tsundere, and ready to pick a fight with the whole world
