Back to the Big Shot's Youth

Reborn in 1999, Nan Xu is twelve years old and in fourth grade. Her deskmate is still Lu Youqing, sensitive and insecure. Years of hunger and malnutrition have already damaged his stomach, and one day his stomach pain gets so bad that he faints in class. Fate plays cruel tricks. Who could have imagined that the future business world leader had lived like an animal as a child? She knows his future will be bright and glorious, so she feels all the more sorry for the lonely, unsupported boy he is now. She thinks that if she can help him with something small, she should, even if it's only enough to ease his difficult life a little. So she often brings him fruit from her family's orchard: strawberries in spring, peaches in summer, and apples and oranges in autumn and winter. Years later, they grow up. Nan Xu goes to high school in the provincial capital, while Lu Youqing leaves without a word and vanishes as if he never existed. No one worries about Lu Youqing, and neither does Nan Xu. She knows that his rise to prominence may already have begun. A golden-scaled carp is no creature of a pond; when the wind and clouds rise, it transforms into a dragon. They meet again after Nan Xu is admitted to a university in Jicheng. At the new students' welcome speech, Lu Youqing sees her and holds her tightly in his arms, as if she were the only person in the world. His gaze is as deep as the night, but his voice is urgent and cold, tinged with self-mockery: "I disappeared, and you never once came looking for me?"
