Everyday Life in Ancient Greece

A slice-of-life farming story set in ancient Greece. No romance. P.S. I’ve seen quite a few people comment on the blurb. I’m sorry! It’s not that I don’t want to write one, I just don’t know why, but I can’t seem to write one for this story. I’ve actually written several versions, but every one of them felt different from the story itself. I was worried people would think it was all packaging and no substance, so I’ve left the blurb blank. All I can tell you plainly is that this is a down-to-earth farming story set in ancient Greece over 2,500 years ago, about eating, drinking, making money, and surviving. It has nothing to do with mythology and there are no romantic pairings. When he was little, the big tabby at home would sit primly beside his cradle, tuck its tail in front of itself, and say, “Call me Mom.” For years, he couldn’t tell whether Mom was the one with long hair or the one with a long tail. When he grew up and opened a veterinary clinic, he kept getting caught up in disputes between pets and their owners. Passing by a supermarket, he heard a poodle locked in a cage at the entrance, cursing up a storm: “Wang Yuanyuan! Wang Yuanyuan! I f***ing hate you!” He covered his face, thinking what terrible manners, and pretended not to understand as he tried to slip inside. But the poodle shouted after him: “The bastard who chopped off my balls! Go in and tell Wang Yuanyuan to hurry up and come out!” On his way home, he passed a landscaped area in his neighborhood. A girl was crouched in the grass, earnestly going “Meow, meow! Meow, meow!” to get a cat’s attention. The cat thought: There are eight grammatical errors in that sentence. I can’t even be bothered to respond. The moment he stepped into his veterinary clinic, the cats and dogs panicked: “Aaaah! That perverted human who sticks needles in us is back!” Yu Huai got three dark lines on his forehead. You all know I’m treating you!
