The Surgeon's Story: Gentle as Jade

I. I. "The drawings are... really cute." Yang Fan casually flipped through a few pages, his tone mild, with just a hint of warmth.

Chu Jun blinked and looked up at Yang Fan. She was surprised to hear him use the word "cute." Their eyes met briefly. This time, Chu Jun saw clearly: although Yang Fan had a smile on his lips, there was not a trace of amusement in his clear eyes. They were as cold as a detached moonlight.

She was a little afraid of Yang Fan. Seeing that icy gaze, she lowered her head without thinking. "I'm sorry, Director Yang. I..."

"Why are you apologizing to me?" Yang Fan closed the sketchbook and set it down on the desk, neither gently nor roughly. He raised a hand to adjust his glasses, his manner still warm. Looking at Chu Jun, he smiled. "You weren't drawing during work hours."

"We're so busy right now. I really shouldn't be distracted by comics." Chu Jun's gaze remained fixed on the sketchbook.

"Good. At least you realize that." Yang Fan nodded and sat up straight. He glanced at Chu Jun. "Go get back to work."

Chu Jun's eyes were still on her sketchbook. She timidly pointed at the book under Yang Fan's elbow. "Director Yang..."

Yang Fan acted as if he didn't understand what she meant and looked back at her calmly. "What is it?"

"N-nothing." She shook her head, thinking that next time she'd draw at home and not bring her sketchbook to the hospital.

Yang Fan heard the door close and looked up at it. Irritated, he loosened his collar.

He'd opened the book at random and found a manga version of Zhuang Shu.

Chu Jun really was something! She'd filled an entire sketchbook with Zhuang Shu.

So what if he'd taught her closed chest drainage? He could do it too!

II. First, let me emphasize that this story changes the original setting: Yang the Handsome was never married and has no son. He's around forty now. Canon purists, beware. I watched Surgeons and fell for our Yang the Handsome. I shipped him with Lu Chenxi, but Lu Chenxi got Zhuang Shu. So I started shipping another crack pairing: Chu Jun x Yang Fan. An ambitious rookie and the scheming Yang Fan, hahaha.
