The Emperors Rise Up to Overthrow the Qing

I have written more than once in my books: "When the Way is lost, virtue follows. When virtue is lost, benevolence follows. When benevolence is lost, righteousness follows. When righteousness is lost, propriety follows.", Tao Te Ching.

The line that stuck with me most after my first read of the Tao Te Ching was this one. People had never possessed the Way, and by the late Qing, all they had left was propriety: endless rituals, etiquette, and ancestral rules. They didn't even have righteousness.

This was also why the Taiping Rebellion failed. How could someone who swept across several provinces and knew how to use religion to incite the people still lose?

Come on, let's bring in a few experienced big shots.

Qin Shi Huang Ying Zheng transmigrates into Hong Xiuquan: broad-minded, scheming emperor.

Han Gaozu Liu Bang transmigrates into Yang Xiuqing: unreasonable, shameless seme.

Emperor Yang of Sui Yang Guang transmigrates into Xiao Chaogui: idealistic lunatic.

Emperor Gaozong of Tang Li Zhi transmigrates into Feng Yunshan: refined and gentle.

Empress Wu Zetian transmigrates into Shi Dakai: truly accomplished in both letters and arms.

Oh my, just imagine how lively a rebellion with all these people together would be.

The emperors: "Huh? Where's my hair?"
