Forever Bowed Down in the Dust
For L. Lawliet
He may not be perfect, but in my world, he is my one and only treasure.
Misa never believed in fate. Even when she found the Death Note, she didn't think anything would come of it.
But when she saw the "Legend of the Savior" in the newspaper, and then stood before the skyscraper that day, staring blankly up at the single calligraphic letter on the huge white screen, she felt something she could not put into words.
Their collision during an exam, suspicion and being suspected, the so-called "fated companions"... Did all of this explain what it meant to be "destined"?
"Who's the most important person to Misa?" The panda-eyed boy stared straight at her.
"Misa," the girl replied without hesitation.
"Eh... But Misa likes Light Yagami," L said, refusing to give up.
"That's why I hate him."
"What about me?"
"You... I'm not telling you!" The girl pursed her lips shyly and turned away from him.
"Oh?" L bit his finger, then leaned in behind her and whispered clearly in her ear:
"I don't care about justice. I just want you to survive."
The people who cross our paths are there for a reason. Some teach us lessons, some help us heal, and some are there to share life's burdens and joys.
Some are there to be loved truly.
