The Heavenly Strategy General

One-line blurb: This is the story of a devoted, loyal dog of an attacker pursuing a receiver who seems just as loyal but is actually a bit of a scumbag and has a miserable life. The tragic version: Listen, whose ears are filled with a mournful song? Look, whose realm is stained with blood amid the chaos of war? Who spends a lifetime amid the clash of arms? Whose promise is to stay together forever? In the end, all that remains is one lonely man. "You want to stay with me? How long can you stay?" "For a lifetime. However long I can be with you, that's how long I'll stay by your side." During the peaceful years of the Great Zhou, how much trouble can one black-market deal cause? The resulting murders threaten relations between two nations. The heir of the Northern Di even petitions the emperor to marry the young general He Lanqing as his consort. Rumors spread, and trouble keeps brewing. To avoid getting caught in the flames, He Lanqing heads south to the Northern Camp, only to fall victim to a villain's schemes. A wedding veil, and a twist of fate makes him someone else's wife. But he is a man, not a ge'er. Even with feelings in his heart, he has no choice but to do as he must... "I am the eldest son of the He family, and the emperor personally appointed me as a Heavenly Strategy General. I can't put my family's lives at risk for the sake of personal feelings. So you and I can only go this far." Trying to end things without truly ending them only brings trouble upon yourself. The nation is in danger, the family is in danger, and people's hearts are in even greater danger. Who spends a lifetime silently protecting someone? Who suffers, bound by the cocoon of his own making? No matter how much he says, it's all just a record of his unforgivable crimes. "Please, don't die..." [Ahem, about the ending for the gong: if I can think of a way to save him while updating this story, the later part of this work will differ from Hero's Grave. If I can't think of a way to save him, I'll make it up to you in the next installment.] P.S. I've taken being unreliable to the extreme. This story includes childbirth, updates are irregular, and the pit looks rather deep, so think twice before jumping in if you don't have patience.
