[Blurb to be polished; title changed.]
[Also titled "Within the Cage." ]
[I'd completely run out of ideas for the previous story, so I could only switch to writing something else. I kneel and apologize to all the lovely readers who bookmarked it. orz. - Note from March 2025.]
In 1892, a boy descended into Haicheng on a dandelion, and the grand tale of visitors from other worlds making their entrance began.
Folk tales and strange phenomena, martial arts and occult sects, the three teachings and all walks of life...
A qipao-clad woman on a calendar wears a mechanical Nuo mask. Airships belch steam as they sail between the flags of foreign nations, music soaring high.
This is the Republic of China in the age of steam.
A land of taboos, and of mystery.

Yang Huanxing died at the age of twenty-three in his previous life, shot dead in a muddy heap in Haigu Bay.
When he opened his eyes again, he was seventeen, back at school. Summer cicadas sang beyond the window, and lush green shade spread everywhere. The old ticket that would soon take him, along with many others from the carefree modern world, to that mysterious Republic of China was still in his palm.
Ning Tang was still alive, too.
He sat beside him, eyes lowered, his features clean-cut and his lips as red as flowers. He lightly prodded him with his pen. "Why are you looking at me? Look at the questions."
CP: A steady, rebellious, cool guy x a cool, aloof, flirtatious bottom
* A group transmigration story, and half a school-life novel.
* Two worlds: one is modern society, the other an alternate Republic of China. Steampunk and eerie folk customs; their relative importance depends on the plot.
* Many original worldbuilding details, with supernatural elements.
[Please Note Before Reading]
1. The story is told from the top's perspective. One-on-one, mutually doting sweet romance, happy ending.
2. No character is perfect; everyone has flaws. Read with caution.
3. Please keep away if you hold any extreme views. This is just a novel.
4. I'll try to avoid plot holes, but there may still be some. Everyone has their own tastes. No ranking comparisons, reposting, or adaptations.
5. The blurb was written on March 24, 2025, and revised on March 25, 2026. Screenshots have been saved as proof. Anyone who steals or borrows my ideas will choke on their water, pay double for groceries, stay at the bottom of the rankings forever, and never get a good recommendation.
