The Chivalrous Thief: Clear Wind and Bright Moon

(I revise and improve my works from time to time, so please read the original on Jinjiang. Pirated versions may contain typos and even differ a little in plot.)

During the Southern and Northern Dynasties, the Great Liang, also called Southern Liang, was beset by instability and turmoil in the martial world, giving rise to bands of chivalrous thieves.

Zhao Yueming is innocent and lively, chasing a life of vengeance and justice, roaming the martial world with her sword, punishing the wicked and helping the weak, and doing what little she can to defend her country. She has an elder brother, Zhao Fengqi, cold on the outside but warm at heart and the finest martial artist around; an elder brother, Li Xuan, as gentle as jade and as elegant as an orchid and a tree; and a free-spirited friend, Meng Cheng. The four form the band of chivalrous thieves known as Clear Wind and Bright Moon.

After being drawn into the conflicts of the martial world, Zhao Yueming discovers that she is not Zhao Fengqi's biological younger sister. To return to her birth father, and unable to face Zhao Fengqi, who has become the prince consort of Kucha, she decides to fake her death in front of the three of them. She then changes her name to Xiao Yue and becomes the Bright Moon Commandery Princess of Great Liang. She thinks she will never again cross paths with her old companions, but then she meets the Jade-Faced Young Master Zhao Fengqi once more. Her fake death drove him mad, and she gradually discovers that a blood feud lies between them...

Zhao Fengqi: What if I told you I wanted to die?

Xiao Yue: Then I'll die with you.

Zhao Fengqi: Yue'er, do you have any wishes left?

Xiao Yue: I wish to be your wife. In this life and every life, I will marry no one but you.

A poetic take:

I once stole a glance at you beneath the moonlight,

A gentle breeze rose, and the full moon hung overhead.

Tell me, when will the bright moon appear?

I raise my wine and ask the heavens.

I wonder, in the celestial palaces above,

What year is it tonight? (Zhao Fengqi)

I once searched for your shadow in the peach grove,

Peach blossoms fell like rain, and the stream murmured on.

Tell me, when will the gentle breeze rise?

I kept a lamp burning until dawn.

I wonder, where has our first resolve gone?

Beneath the same bright moon, though we are worlds apart. (Xiao Yue)
