A Scholar Without Borders

[Worldbuilding: The Spirit of Words as Bone, Style as Blood] On the continent of Etheria, language is the only truth. When children turn sixteen, they receive a Literary Heart on the Night of Awakening: a sphere of light made of pure rhetoric that determines the path they will follow in their lifelong cultivation. Some awaken to Hemingway's iceberg, where every word carries immense weight; some to Wilde's paradoxes, using fallacies to pierce reality; and some, unfortunately, to street slang, struggling at the bottom of the literary path for the rest of their lives. The continent has twelve great paths, corresponding to twelve personalities and the spiritual imprints of twelve immortal writers. Tonight, three hundred feet beneath the ruins of Eagle's Nest City, in the Inkstone Arena, an encounter destined to change the continent's fate is quietly taking shape amid the flashing blades of words.
