Brilliant Vermilion

Qu Yuming noticed something was not quite right.

He realized he had developed a few improper thoughts about the tutor who taught him and answered his questions.

This tutor had a rather difficult temper, kept his face covered with a veil all day, and would smack Qu Yuming's palm with a ruler every few days. He had never known the meaning of gentleness.

Yet whenever Qu Yuming caught sight of the tutor's features not hidden by the veil, and saw the dot of cinnabar between his brows, even the smacks on his hand made life seem wonderful.

So much so that he was always suspicious he had some kind of psychological disorder.

If it was an illness, then it needed treatment. Qu Yuming silently clenched his fist, determined to seek out a renowned doctor and cure this strange affliction.

Beautiful gong, first-person narration from the uke's perspective, short story.
