Divine Divination

[My new novel, The Empress Sees Ghosts Again and Again, is now underway. Come give it a try!] The prefect of Taiyuan, Sun, picked up a little fool! The little fool couldn't sew, couldn't serve a young lady, and didn't even know who she was. Then one day, the people who had once bullied her discovered that this little fool could read the stars and practice divination, and could predict fortune, misfortune, and fate. Before long, people seeking her predictions and advice traveled all the way from Taiyuan to the capital. Once she arrived in the capital, the world was stunned to discover that this little fool looked exactly like Empress Jiang, who had controlled the court fifty years ago! The trembling ministers: "Why does that wretched woman keep coming back from the dead?!" The wide-eyed young emperor: "Waaah, I miss Grandma Empress." Only Gu Xun, the emperor's tutor, looked at the graceful little fool and affectionately patted her head. "No matter how much you change, you'll always be my girl." (Note: The heroine is not the emperor's grandmother. She is not reborn, only suffering from amnesia. She will recover, and she has a golden finger.) [Please add The Empress Sees Ghosts Again and Again to your favorites!] Qiu He had no power or connections and was utterly unremarkable. Yet she rose from palace maid in the Cold Palace to the emperor's favorite, all because she had eyes that could see ghosts. The former imperial consort, a palace-intrigue expert: "Useless! You can't even deal with this lot, and you still want revenge?" The former enchantress, who could beguile anyone: "I can bring ruin to the nation and seduce that dog emperor. There's nothing I can't do!" The former empress dowager, who ruled from behind the curtain: "Who needs a man? Join me, and we'll rule the empire together!" They say it's easy to keep cool in the shade of powerful allies. Everyone in the palace feared her, and the enemies she took down had weeds growing two meters high over their graves. The only one who wasn't afraid of her was the notorious, good-for-nothing prince Zhou Wenyan, who kept provoking her at every turn. "Little Qiu He, give me a kiss, and I'll even snatch the phoenix seal for you." *Early story: A tough palace maid who can see ghosts and a lecherous prince.
