Pampering the Little Imperial Consort

The new emperor murdered his brother and seized the throne. Jiang Fu became a Dowager Consort without ever having attended the emperor, and was sent away to the most remote palace, Shoukang Palace. The food at Shoukang Palace was awful, and Jiang Fu was still growing, so she was never full. Every night, she snuck into the Buddhist hall beside the palace to steal the offerings. One day, she met a man in the Buddhist hall. The lamps weren't lit, and Jiang Fu couldn't make out his face. "Are you a guard?" The man said nothing. To bolster her courage, Jiang Fu bluffed, "I am Dowager Consort Jiang, the late emperor's most beloved consort. You will obey my orders!" The man remained silent. Gathering her courage, Jiang Fu added, "Tomorrow, I want chicken legs and duck necks. Some braised pig's trotters would be even better." The next day, the man really did bring her what she had asked for. Afraid he would see through her, Jiang Fu kept throwing her status as a Dowager Consort around, tricking him into bringing her tasty treats and fun things. Until one day, the man pinned her beneath him. Jiang Fu: ??? How dare you, guard! How dare you disrespect me! Sob, sob, QAQ But a few months later, Jiang Fu's belly began to swell, and no one knew who the father was. According to palace rules, both the Dowager Consort and that stranger were supposed to be executed. The other Dowager Consorts at Shoukang Palace scolded her in exasperation: "What's wrong with being a Dowager Consort? Why did you have to get involved with a man? Look at you, you're going to die!" Jiang Fu cried until her makeup ran, then joined in cursing him: "That damn man! He's gotten me killed!" Pei Ji, the damn man, stood at the doorway, holding an imperial edict and the Imperial Seal. His gaze was dark and menacing. That night, the man wrapped an arm around the slender waist of the young woman, his eyes burning with desire.
