[SAO Fanfiction] The White Horse's Dark Forest

[Be sure to expand the synopsis to read the content warnings]

A lone white horse walks through the dark, vast forest forged from memories, chasing a light that has suddenly appeared ahead. It never knows whether that light is a beacon of salvation or a lamp meant to toy with it. Carrying both a wary heart and a past it has never spoken of, it inches toward the light, one step at a time. The light is at the edge of the forest. The white horse leaps forward and vanishes into it.

In the end, the girl, whose circumstances mirror the white horse's, finds her own light just as it did. She escapes her predicament and offers her beloved her brightest smile and the tightest embrace.

"You are my light."

[Content Warnings]

1. This has been a massive ongoing project for ten years. The only thing I can promise is that I will finish it. I can't promise anything else. And since I'm still working on another long project, the update schedule may be affected.

2. An original female protagonist story that breaks up Kirito and Asuna and cuts off all the harem routes. It borrows from the early plot of SAOP. The heroine is original, and the hero is Kirito. Yui will be with Asuna. Asuna has no pairing and no romantic feelings directed at anyone.

3. I've been away from the series for a long time, and only recently picked up some of the Sword Art Online novels to reread. There will definitely be some details that don't strictly match the established setting, but I can't be bothered to fix them.

4. Comments from people who can't stand breaking up canon couples, those who make claims about who the one true heroine is, and people who dislike Kirito are not welcome. I don't like deleting comments, but comments like these will be deleted.
