If we can save this world once, then we can surely save it again, and again.
Let this world be colored by us, and remember that we once existed.
A Digimon Adventure without Butter-Fly would be utterly unscientific.
In a nutshell: The Digimon Adventure characters take on the Digimon Xros Wars plot and maps.
Additional notes:
1. DA = Digimon Adventure, the groundbreaking series most people know. I won't go into the details of its setting.
2. DXW = Digimon Xros Wars, the final animated work in the entire Digimon series, and also a much-criticized entry. It's said to have even more plot holes than DA02, which had long been considered the champion of plot holes. Believe me, I won't spend too much effort fixing them. Let's just say that if you don't notice them, they're not much of a problem.
This story's setting is roughly divided into three parts. I won't even get started on how the Time-Travelling Hunters are really just tacked onto DXW. The Digimon series is very clearly divided into arcs. DA has the File Island arc, the Server Continent arc, and even the Dark Masters arc, but the official version never distinguished them with subtitles. DXW, on the other hand, was the first to use subtitles to separate its arcs. Aside from the first part, the "Unmarked Arc," the other two are "The Evil Death Generals and the Seven Kingdoms" and "The Time-Travelling Hunters." Here's the point: the Time-Travelling Hunters arc is so frustrating that this story's premise of having DA characters take on the DXW plot and maps only includes the "Unmarked Arc" and "The Evil Death Generals and the Seven Kingdoms."
3. As for other things, the characters and their relationships from DA are retained, while DXW's level-free system, which is especially baffling, is completely discarded. Watching Adult-level Digimon fight Perfect-level ones really stresses me out. To sum up, the DXW portion keeps only the bosses and map settings. Transformers and Pokemon are just too much for me.
4. The old problem of how to translate character names. I honestly don't understand why we have to fight against so-called conventions when there's no real dispute. Is it really necessary?
Here's how I'll handle character names in this story: If the official version gives a Chinese name, I'll use it. If a name can be translated by meaning, I won't transliterate it.
Specifically:
Yagami Hikari. I have no idea where the name Kari came from. HIKARI clearly means "light."
Takenouchi Sora. Sora is a transliteration, but I personally don't think it works. Also, "sky" subtly echoes the wind element of the Crest of Love. Sora may sound nicer, but it loses all that meaning.
Kido Jo. Anyone still using Kido Joe can go to bed. The official version later gave his name in Chinese characters.
Takaishi Takeru. Although Takaishi Takeshi and Takaishi Takeshi are both acceptable as transliterations, Chinese characters clearly appear on the blackboard when he introduces himself after transferring schools at the beginning of DA02.
Don't ask me who the couples are. Everyone knows the official pairing in the final episode of DA02. I can't be bothered to care about questions like who broke up which pairing or why. All I can say is that this story may possibly be slightly about Taichi and Hikari.
Finally, updates are irregular, and I won't hold myself to a minimum of 5,000 characters per chapter anymore. I want to learn from the story above and its author. By the way, I highly recommend it.
... It's actually been updated. I must be hallucinating.
I don't mind God unfolding at all
It's really painful to research the Party... I can only find relevant information from different eras and I'll probably figure it out myself...
Without Koushiro, I don't know what to do with Taichi. WWWWWW It's really a headache to explore the digital settings. Is there such a thing as a complete collection of Digimon evolutions? I want to find Gabumon's other evolutions but I can't find Orz.
So Wo is trying to accept these settings = =
If you don't update, I'll whip you. I only watched the last two episodes of DXW, for obvious reasons...
