The High Tower in the Northwest

Old grudges from the past, what do they matter? But just when we were ready to let everything go, we discovered there were others standing in our way, refusing to let either of us go.

Still the Six Dynasties and the Wang and Xie families. Just without so many life-and-death entanglements and grudges.

Perhaps this is different from other people's writing?

Here are a few notes about this story.

This story was once titled A Tower Stands in the Northwest and was submitted to two magazines in succession. At the time, to avoid seeming like I was rehashing the Six Dynasties, I changed the characters' names as follows:

Wang Hong = Jiang Xinyue; Wang Xun = Jiang Lan; Wang Lian = Jiang Xinyi; Wang Tanshou = Jiang Xinmei;

Xie Hun = Qiu Mubai; Princess Jinling = Princess Yanling.

The place names were changed as follows:

Jiankang = Baixia (an alternate name); Jinling = Yanling (an old name from the Spring and Autumn period); Huqiu = Wuqiu (following the Tang-era taboo against certain characters).

To avoid any disputes, I want to clarify that, in the Aiqian Nineteen Poems series and its other volumes, people and places will no longer appear under pseudonyms.
