Transmigrating to Become an Ancient Person

The autumn mountains wither year after year, while the lamplight and moon grow cold with every passing season.

Xie Shuyan keeps watch over a dying lamp in a mountain hut, while Su Lingwan dwells as a lone moon among the clouds.

Once, on a frosty night by a streamside bridge, the two stood shoulder to shoulder beneath the crescent moon, laughing as they counted the midnight watches. After they parted, the west wind came and went, leaving only memories to piece together the outline of the one they had lost.

When the lamp burns bright, he imagines her standing in its glow. When the moon rises, they share the same silvery light, though two worlds lie between them.

He knocks on Buddha's door to ask about fate, seeks the Way to find love, and watches the years frost his temples.

He raises a cup to his shadow, only to learn that every vision is empty. The lamp burns out, the moon sinks, and he is left alone on the long steps.

He calls a thousand times, but hears no answer. His every thought sinks into silence. In the end...

There is no way to voice all this sorrow of parting. Only the lamp and the moon silently swallow this longing for someone they will never meet again.
