Good Feng Shui: A Home That Brings Peace of Mind

This is an accessible guide that strips away the mysticism, drawing on traditional ideas about homes and modern environmental psychology. It moves beyond old notions of ghosts, spirits, good luck, and bad luck, unpacking the traditional principles of feng shui concerning natural light, ventilation, circulation, and the emotional feel of a space. From home layouts and furniture placement to lighting, greenery, and office design, it uses everyday examples to explain how our surroundings affect our moods, concentration, and quality of life. Rather than promoting superstition, the book helps readers create homes that are comfortable, peaceful, and suited to their habits, and understand how people and spaces coexist.

Purpose: Strip away the feudal dross in feng shui culture and restore the underlying logic behind how people in ancient times designed their homes. Traditional feng shui is, at its core, an ancient system of environmental design. This book aims to dispel popular misconceptions of feng shui as something mystical and show readers that good feng shui is, above all, comfortable and livable, bringing peace of mind. A home is not meant to chase so-called good fortune. It should serve the people who live in it, creating a space that fits their own pace of life and fosters harmony between people and their surroundings.
