The first time Yun You met Gu Lin was in her living room. Her parents introduced him as the child of a fellow soldier who would be staying with them for a while.

He was a head taller than her, with a cold expression and an unmistakable youthful air. He didn't say a word when he saw her, looking completely unapproachable.

Yun You was ten then and hadn't yet mastered her precognitive ability. She didn't understand why the threads connecting her and Gu Lin were so tangled, or why she found him annoying at first sight.

They each left the other with a bad first impression.

Until later,

Gu Lin finished the half sausage Yun You had left behind.

When Yun You got into mischief, Gu Lin looked reluctant, but still helped her.

Just as Yun You finally stopped finding Gu Lin annoying, a new problem came along.

Gu Lin wouldn't let her walk around the house barefoot. She could only have ice cream once a week, and she wasn't allowed to drink milk on an empty stomach...

Yun You found him unbearably fussy, but still obediently did as he said whenever he gave her that look.

Wait, why should she listen to him?

This was her house. She was the one in charge!

The first time Gu Lin saw Yun You was in a perilous fallen zone. He watched as she, wearing yellow-striped pajamas, dodged one danger after another and made it back to the edge of the safe zone.

None of it felt real. No child should have been in a fallen zone, except for someone like him: a student who had accompanied his parents on a research trip, awakened an S-rank ability, and received special authorization.

When Gu Lin woke up, he realized it really had been a dream.

He and his parents' research team were still trapped in the fallen zone. They had been lost for seven days, and their supplies had long since run out.

Gu Lin submitted the route Yun You had taken in his dream. With no other options, the research team near the point of no return followed his advice. They made it back to the safe zone quickly and without a hitch, with no casualties.

Everyone marveled and praised Gu Lin, saying that an S-rank ability user was bound to have extraordinary instincts.

After the incident, Gu Lin's parents no longer let him accompany the research team. They transferred him back to a school in the safe zone and arranged for him to stay with a friend for a while.

At his parents' friend's house, he met the girl in yellow pajamas. She looked half asleep, frowned at him, and seemed very annoyed.

Gu Lin kept his expression calm, but his heartbeat thundered in his ears.
