[Western Crossover] In a World Without Spider-Man

After a great battle, villains began appearing one after another.

The Vulture, the Green Goblin, Electro... Their attacks were nowhere near as devastating as the threats Earth had faced before, but the Avengers handling them noticed something strange.

"Why did the Vulture complain that I have no empathy?"

"Why did the Green Goblin say I'm too self-righteous, still stuck in my ways, and unable to understand him?"

"That Scorpion guy said I always look grim and never smile... Do we have to learn emotional expression just to catch villains these days?"

The Avengers couldn't make sense of it, until one day they saw him:

A person in a red-and-blue suit, darting around among them, easing tensions when they argued and staying by their side when he sensed they were troubled.

He was always so kind, bringing the little bit of warmth their world lacked. Time and again, he patched things up between them. From the janitor to the money tree by the entrance, even the ants passing by downstairs got special treatment from him.

He was someone who didn't exist in their world, yet should have.

When the Avengers learned all this, they couldn't keep their composure.

-

"How could they treat him like that? He's just a kid!"

"Those villains appearing wasn't his fault. How could they blame him?"

"He got expelled from school, couldn't tell anyone when he was hurt, and the medicine he bought was expired... What kind of life has he been living?"

Just as the Avengers were frowning at the screen,

more than 20 kilometers away, in Queens,

a 15-year-old boy rubbed the back of his stinging neck and stared in shock at the spider in his hand.

"S-s-s-s-spider! Aaaaaah...!!!"

-

*Spider-Man, who should never have existed on this timeline, has appeared.

*Watching the story unfold.

*"...When you found him, you didn't tell me he could copy my Iron Man suit, steal Steve's shield, and send Thor's hammer flying!"

*Most likely a power fantasy.

Theme: Making up for regrets.
